It is currently considered that the loss of biodiversity is mainly the result of exotic biological invasions. FuEDEI carries out entomological, botanical, ecological, taxonomic and genetic studies on invasive species, in order to develop control strategies which, in turn, are sustainable and beneficial to agriculture as well as beneficial and uncostly to the environment.
FuEDEI also offers advice and logistical support to scientists and institutions, generating areas for scientific and experimental cooperation. Results of the research are published in national and international scientific journals or congresses. Staff comprises researchers, doctorate thesis students, interns, technicians and administration personnel.
