Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC)

Management of Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC): survey of potential vectors (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) in citrus agroecosystems of NW and NE Argentina and selection of egg parasitoids as potential biological control agents.

At present, Argentina citrus industry is experiencing comercial limitations by international markets due to sanitary and envrironmental limitations for the presence of quarantine pest and pesticides residues on citrus fruits. FuEDEI in cooperation with other national research agencies (PROIMI-Conicet/FCNyM-UNLP/INTA) are working on a integrated pest management of CVC founded by the Scientific and Technological National Agency (PICT-FONCyT). The objective of the project is to identify the leafhoppers/sharpshooters (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Proconiini, Cicadellini), potential vectors of CVC and to select egg parasitoids as promising biological control agents.
