With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of Argentina, the Foundation for the Study of Invasive Species (Spanish acronym: FuEDEI) was created to replace the South American Biological Control Laboratory (USDA-ARS-SABCL), with 50 years of experience in classical biological control and after investigating the possibility of controlling 44 pests with a total of approximately 250 natural enemies.
Currently, FuEDEI conducts studies in entomology, botany, ecology, taxonomy, genetics, and molecular biology to develop management strategies for invasive species including the development of classical biological control agents againts weeds and insects pests.
